Hilary Tong

Managing Director

With over a decade of experience, Hilary is an expert in guiding ultra-high-net-worth clients and their Family Offices, particularly within the Australian market. Specializing in assisting overseas clients with managing and optimizing their Australian portfolios and investments, Hilary provides tailored strategies that address unique circumstances and goals. At Bethel Consulting, the focus is on delivering discreet, personalized solutions that enable clients to maintain control over their investments while achieving their aspirations. This approach is underpinned by a dedication to fostering trust and delivering outcomes that align with client’s values and the organization’s culture.

Drawing on her extensive lived Family Office experience and a background in running her family’s foundation, Hilary has developed exceptional skills in cross-cultural, multi-generational relationship management, creative problem-solving, and entrepreneurship. The efforts are centred on empowering families and businesses through strategic philanthropy and investment guidance.

Hilary’s specialisation is helping families in the transfer of legacies between generations. According to Hilary “generational change is not just about wealth transfer- it’s more about transferring values and knowledge”.

Hilary holds a Bachelor of Finance from Western University in Canada.

Stephane Cooper

Managing Director

Mr Stephane Cooper has worked for over 24 years in global financial brands with firms such as Citi, Goldman Sachs JBWere, NAB and Morgan Stanley. Mr Cooper has a unique specialisation for clients from Asia investing in Australia given his role as Head of SIV and Executive Director at Morgan Stanley where he and his team built one of Australia’s most respected SIV offerings.

Stephane has also consulted extensively with ASX-listed companies and Wealth Management firms in Australia, advising on areas such as Operations, Compliance, Wealth Management Systems and Platform integrations. He has a deep appreciation of the critical role that technology plays and global experience in product and service offerings from around the world.

Before joining Bethel Consulting, Stephane founded Channel Private in January 2020 as a Private Office for HNW clients from Asia investing in Australia. In this role, Stephane built a team of advisers and advised his private clients on all aspects of the Australian market, including portfolio implementation.

Stephane holds an Executive MBA (EMBA) from Melbourne Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Monash University.

​ Alan Cullen

Advisory Board

Mr Alan Cullen has had decades of experience in senior positions in the finance industry including CEO of the Australian Finance Conference, Executive Director of Midland Bank’s Merchant bank and CEO of the Australian Bankers’ Association. His advice has been sought by listed and private companies, governments and their agencies and industry associations. Mr Cullen has also had significant experience in dealing with clients from the ASEAN region as well as Europe, the Unites States and China.

He has advised and collaborated with Governments and Ultra High Net Worth Family Offices in travel, agriculture, dairy, and medicine. He has advised on business plans for establishment and expansion in Australia for commercial and education objectives and negotiated the purchase of the Australian Headquarters for a major offshore venture.

Alan’s business advice has encompassed a wide range of business issues, and he has been particularly active in assisting growth businesses of significant scale. His deep relationships with the banks have facilitated productive collaborations providing superior outcomes for clients.

Under Michael’s leadership, the Mai Group has established successful joint ventures with globally renowned institutions. The group has delivered and managed projects valued at over AUD 2 billion across Australia, with an exciting pipeline of developments underway.

Jacqueline Fernley

As Mason Steven’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Jacqui leads the firm’s Outsourced Chief Investment Office (OCIO) strategy which includes the investment team, execution, and implementation teams.

As a highly experienced investor with 30 years’ experience, Jacqui is able to leverage her deep understanding of financial markets across a breadth of asset classes, asset allocation, instrument selection, portfolio construction and risk management. During her extensive career, Jacqui has led multiple teams, held leadership positions and developed products within the financial services sector.

Jacqui is passionate about mentoring and supporting women in the financial services industry and was recently invited to join Chief Executive Women (CEW) in recognition of her seniority and influence in the financial services sector.

During her time at Mason Stevens, Jacqui has launched the firm’s unique OCIO function, allowing wealth practices to draw upon the teams’ deep investment expertise. Jacqui partners with our clients to deliver investment performance in a scaled, compliant and consistent manner across our wealth practices.

Jacqui sits on multiple investment committees from wealth practices to large family office and multifamily office clients. Jacqui is the co-portfolio manager for the Foundation and Flagship multi asset portfolios.

Jacqui has a Bachelor of Commerce/Law and is also a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
